Engaging Everyone in Statistics and Building Data Literacy

This regional in-person conference is being held in conjunction with the online Electronic Conference on Teaching Statistics (eCOTS). The objective of this event is to build connections amongst high school, community college, and collegiate-level teachers of statistics in North Carolina interested in engaging all learners in statistics and building data literacy.

Tentative Schedule

3:00-3:30 – Arrival & Registration

3:30-4:20 – Breakout workshops (3-4 hands-on workshops will be planned and announced soon)

4:30-5:00 – eCOTS Poster Streaming (participants can view and discuss posters that are streamed from the eCOTS online conference)

5:00-6:30 – Dinner & Keynote Panel (Panel Theme: Engaging everyone in statistics and data literacy within high schools, community colleges, and universities)

6:30-7:30 – Stats and Sweets (dessert and sharing of your favorite activities at topic tables)

$25 to register for eCOTS, attendance at the regional conference is no additional cost

Registration Process

To register for the Regional Conference on Teaching Statistics at NC State University, participants should first register for the electronic Conference on Teaching Statistics at and indicate that they will be attending the eCOTS Regional at NC State University. This registration allows participants to engage with the larger community in all online presentations and posters of the eCOTS conference from May 18-22 (learn more), as well as attend the local in-person conference on May 21st at NC State.

Certificate of Attendance

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance that may be used for up to 4 hrs of professional development, if accepted by your local education agency.

Breakout Workshops

Breakout workshops will be 50 minute presentations on a variety of topics. Final breakout workshops will be posted at a future date.

Dinner will be provided for all registered participants. Speakers for the keynote panel are as follows:

Stats and Sweets Topics Tables

Share dessert and best practices. Participants will engage in discussion on best practices, examples, activities, etc. led by conference participants. If you are interested in sharing, please submit a proposed topic here with information on the topic you plan to share.
